Electro Power Systems  SpA of Italy has launched in India lectroSelf, the
world's first entirely  self-recharging fuel cell system for backup power.
The company claimed that the  trials, including those carried out in India,
proved that ElectroSelf generates  significant savings for operators and
tower companies while overcoming the  problems related to frequent on-site
checks and heavy maintenance. It is  designed to deliver reliable backup
power for mobile networks in any location,  whether off-grid in locations
with unreliable power, or in extreme climates,  claimed the company. The
self-contained and self-recharging fuel-cell system  consumes only water,
produces zero greenhouse gas emissions and can be  installed to backup
renewable or mains power. For more information please <a

style="font-family: tahoma; font-size: 12px; color: #77787b;">Launched in
1984, Kolkata&rsquo;s  ageing metro trains break down often. Kolkata Metro
is now looking to get rakes  from pvt. manufacturers, but companies that
could potentially supply rakes  want it to either place a sizeable order
immediately or make a firm commitment  to get more in the future. The
reason for this is that Kolkata&rsquo;s metro trains  run on a wider track,
where technologies need to be adapted, and this would entail  substantial
capital expenditure on the assembly line. By February, bids are to  be
invited from pvt manufacturers for at least 14 air-conditioned rakes.
Kolkata Metro would need at least 40-50 more rakes within eight years. For
